Company History - Barnes Fuel Oil

Barnes Fuel Oil has been serving Douglas County with a variety of products since 1948. Ed Barnes started the company that year. He had two above-ground tanks located at 281 South State Street in Sutherlin. That address remains the location of the plant today. Ed delivered home heating oil and did furnace repairs.

In 1972 while Ed was delivering to Don Ralls, they began discussing the fuel oil business. Don was tired of being on the road as a salesman so the idea of owning a local business in a town he grew up in sounded good. Ed sold the business to Don that year and he is still the owner today. After a few years of running the office out of his home Don built an office at the 281 South State Street site.

In 1989 Don purchased Roseburg Heating Oil from Neil Kaser and Clete Krogel. The company has been established since 1928. Don moved that office to the Sutherlin location and continued to serve the Roseburg heating oil customers and surrounding areas.

Don has built a long lasting partnership with his customers and likes to be known as:
